Death of Influencer Ashlee Jenae in Zanzibar as Partner Questioned, Probe Continues

Authorities in Zanzibar are continuing their investigation into the death of U.S. influencer Ashlee Jenae, as officials work to clarify the events surrounding the incident.

Police confirmed that her fiancé, Joe McCann, is assisting with inquiries and has had his passport temporarily retained while the case is reviewed. Authorities have reiterated that he is being treated as a witness, and no charges have been filed.

Robinson, 31, was discovered unconscious at Zuri Zanzibar, where the couple had been staying. According to regional police commander Benedict Mapujira, the two had reportedly argued earlier, leading hotel staff to separate them before alerting authorities. She was later taken to hospital, where she died the next day.

Officials have cautioned that no confirmed cause of death has been released. Although early reports mentioned the possibility of self-harm, investigators stress that conclusions will depend on pending medical findings.

Robinson’s family has voiced concern over the limited information available, describing her death as sudden and unexpected. They are working with both local authorities and U.S. representatives to obtain clarity.

Experts say such cases often require careful coordination between jurisdictions, particularly when international visitors are involved. As investigations proceed, authorities have urged patience while forensic and procedural steps are completed.

The case remains active, with further updates expected as officials seek to establish a verified account of what happened.
