A Palo Alto High School student died Tuesday morning after a tragic incident involving a Caltrain, the Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD) confirmed.
The student’s identity has not been released, and authorities have not shared details about the circumstances, citing an active review.
In a brief statement, PAUSD said the loss was “unexpected” and expressed condolences to the student’s family and friends.
Grief counselors were deployed on campus at Palo Alto High School to support students and staff as classes continued under heightened emotional strain.
“Our thoughts are with the student’s family, friends, and the entire school community during this incredibly difficult time,” the district said, adding that it is coordinating with local authorities and will provide updates when appropriate.
