Judge Mark Fankhauser, a respected U.S. county jurist has died.
Tributes poured in from colleagues, public officials and community members. Melissa Roubic described him as a “cherished colleague and friend,” while local advocacy group O.U.R. Place Open United Recovery praised his understanding of addiction recovery.
“He recognized the importance of both accountability and opportunity,” the organization shared, highlighting his support for individuals working to rebuild their lives.

Judge Fankhauser’s ties to Ravenna ran deep. Amy Michael, a candidate for Ravenna City Council At Large, called him a “distinguished Ravenna alumnus” whose love for his hometown was unmistakable.
Friends also recalled his involvement in youth soccer and mentorship within the community.
