Captain Jason “Jay” Couture, a respected member of Ladder 1 passed away.

The Worcester Fire Brigade Pipes & Drums shared a message of sorrow, extending condolences to Couture’s family, friends and fellow firefighters. “It is a sad reminder of how fragile life is and to cherish all friends and family,” the band wrote.

The Westborough Professional Fire Fighters Local 3070 also offered sympathies to their “brothers and sisters” in Worcester Fire Department Local 1009, honoring Couture’s service and commitment.

Fire officials have not publicly released details surrounding his passing. Within the fire service, however, the loss of a captain resonates deeply. Captains serve as frontline leaders  responsible not only for emergency response but also for mentoring younger firefighters and ensuring crew safety in high-risk situations.
