News of his death was shared by family members, including his sister, Helen Curtice, who described the loss as shocking and devastating. “With the greatest of sadness, my brother, Dr. George Papacostas, has passed away,” she wrote. “He was a good man—a son, a brother, a father, a friend—and he finally found his person. He deserved more time.”

Papacostas, the son of Peter Papacostas, was widely known in Canton not only for his professional contributions but also for his warmth and devotion to family.

Christina Brown Walker, a cousin, echoed that sentiment, writing, “I’m in total shock… Please send lots of prayers to his family, friends, and daughters.

Funeral arrangements reflect the family’s Orthodox faith and deep roots in the community.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, February 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rossi Funeral Home.

Services will follow on Wednesday, February 11, at St. Haralambos Orthodox Church, with the family arriving at 9 a.m. and services beginning at 10 a.m.

Interment will take place at Canton Forest Hill Cemetery.
